How We Decide Who We House Print E-mail
Jephson Homes

We provide rented homes for people in housing need.  Anyone can apply for housing.

We actively work with local authorities and a percentage of all our properties which become available are offered to the local authority.

The local authority will nominate an applicant from their own waiting list to Jephson. By 2010 all local authorities must have in place a choice based lettings scheme. This means that when properties become available to let they are advertised and bids are invited from applicants on the waiting list.  Each local authority operates a slightly different choice based lettings scheme, for more information please contact your local office.

We operate a banding system based on housing need for the allocation of our properties.  Our banding system is clear and transparent and allows us to deal with complex issues relating to housing need. We operate a system of four bands for transfer and direct applicants. Applicants will be placed in the highest band according to their level of housing need.

We operate a system of open waiting lists although we will close lists when we believe that we have more applicants than we can reasonably expect to house within a 12 month period. Closed lists are reviewed every three months.
