Jephson provides housing and support for some of society’s most vulnerable people through its supported housing schemes. These accommodate homeless people with learning difficulties, vulnerable young people, people living with mental health issues, women facing domestic violence and other vulnerable groups. Jephson runs a number of in-house schemes, particularly in the Swindon area, and also in the Midlands. We also work with managing agents.
The aim of supported housing is to provide support to residents to successfully manage their accommodation. Each resident is allocated a key worker, who will agree a support plan with them, and meet them for support planning sessions. Support planning can cover a wide range of issues e.g. family relationships, health, budgeting, practical help e.g. cookery, and claiming benefits. Where necessary we work with third party agencies to draw down specialist help e.g. for drug issues.
Supported housing may be provided in shared houses or hostels for short term living, or for longer term clients, independent flats in the community. Where shared accommodation is provided, it is furnished to a high standard and may include communal facilities such as a training room, lounge, kitchens and garden.
Most projects also run social activities and hold regular House Meetings to enable residents to input into the service. The length of stay varies according to the type of scheme, and each scheme has its own referral criteria.
